Sami Zayn has had an incredible journey in the wrestling business. Making his wrestling debut just two days after his 18th birthday, he would spend the majority of his career wrestling as “El Generico”, the generic Luchador. He managed to make a big splash in the independent scene, and over the years, his career has been closely tied and associated with Kevin Owens.
They’ve teamed with each other and they’ve feuded against one another. Surprisingly, it was Sami Zayn who got offered a WWE contract first, and that saw the end of his run as El Generico. He evolved into Sami Zayn and began showing sides of himself that had never been seen before. Those who followed him on NXT know that he’s one of the most natural all-round performers in the company.
