It’s no secret that with Japanese superstars like Hideo Itami, Asuka, and Shinsuke Nakamura, the language barrier has affected their promos in WWE. It’s a shame because all three of them are excellent promos in Japanese. What WWE has failed to do with such talent that NXT has done right is to protect their weaknesses.
Having Hideo Itami not talk at all would give him a certain mystique. It wouldn’t affect the perception of him. Even if he were to speak, it would be better done in Japanese, as he can undoubtedly cut a more intimidating promo in his native language. Have you ever heard Asuka’s Japanese promos? When translated, they incredibly convincing.
