#4.) vs Drew Gulak – 205 Live 2017
One of the best parts of 205 Live is that the stories told are simple, direct and effective. It was about the heel Drew Gulak advocating for a “safer” 205 Live, preaching more technical, ground-based wrestling rather than the high-flying style that the Cruiserweight division became famous for.
Ali was the opposite of what he stood for and Gulak used Ali as an example of what 205 Live shouldn’t be. Advocating for a “No fly zone”, Ali had to fight Gulak in a battle of philosophies. It culminated in a 2-out-of-3 falls match, which saw two different styles blend together perfectly.
Ali got the first fall, Gulak the second and it was a tense battle for the third one. Ultimately, it had a great payoff as the babyface Ali won the battle, proving that 205 Live is where the high-flying style belongs!
