What makes Kenny Omega great is the fact that early on, he chose his own path. It wasn’t all sunshine and roses for The Cleaner, who took a chance on himself and cemented his own legacy. He’s still in his prime and has many years ahead of him and it’s exciting to see the direction that his career will take, whether he goes to WWE or not.
Being a Winnipeg-native, he joins Chris Jericho in an elite list. Today, Omega is well-known as one of the best wrestlers in the world, and is considered by many as a top 5 wrestler of this generation (though he definitely has a long way to prove it). Perhaps the platform he gets in Japan allows him more creative freedom and this has resulted in a lot of popularity.
The fact that he speaks fluent Japanese and respects the place and culture as much as he does has translated into fans’ love for him, as they don’t just view him as any other gaijin. He’s joined an elite list, being one of only five superstars to become IWGP Heavyweight Champion since 2011!
His journey in the wrestling business has been an incredible one and you’ll get to know more about it through these five facts.
