In 2009-10, Drew McIntyre was billed as “The Chosen One” and the next big thing. It was clear at the time that WWE intended for him to become a future world champion because Vince McMahon pretty much introduced him to SmackDown and called him a future world champion.
The original plan was for McIntyre to win the Money In The Bank briefcase in 2010, but unfortunately, he had gotten into a public argument with his wife Taryn Tyrell. This led to WWE enforcing strict disciplinary action against him, and his push was halted. Swagger, meanwhile, won the MITB briefcase at WrestleMania 26 and cashed in two days later to become World Heavyweight Champion.
