#2.) The journey to Japan
Life on the independents is rough for wrestlers and Anderson found himself paying his dues but not making consistent money. With NWA, Anderson found himself booked in the New Japan Cup in 2008, replacing legend Yuji Nagata. Though he lost his first match, backstage officials seemed to be impressed by him and offered him a contract to join the New Japan Dojo.
At the time, Anderson had only $26 to his name, so when he got the offer and realized that it would mean a stable income, he jumped at the opportunity. The rest, as they say, is history.
