After Zack Sabre Jr. defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi in the G1 Climax, he found himself in the Intercontinental Championship picture. He took on the Ace of NJPW. The story of the match was Tanahashi’s injured arm, and Sabre being a master technician, brutalized him to the point of near defeat.
Of course, Suzuki Gun made their run in, giving Tanahashi a bigger obstacle to overcome. The nearfalls only added to the drama and Tanahashi proved why he was on top for so long, as he put him away with a High Fly Flow to retain the Intecontinental Championship.
