Similar to Becky Lynch, Asuka had retired from pro wrestling in 2006. ‘The Empress Of Tomorrow’ had two years of experience at that point and was diagnosed with chronic nephritis (inflammation caused by urinary tract infection that affects the kidney) and was seemingly forced to retire. During the time, she went back to graphic designing, even opening her own agency.
But she must have felt a calling back because a year and a half after her retirement in September 2007, she made an in-ring return. She never looked back and reached the biggest stage. One can only wonder what would have happened had she chose to stay retired and pursue graphic designing.
