Prince Devitt’s final Wrestle Kingdom outing saw him take on Kota Ibushi, where he defended his IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship in the midst of a 14-month reign. He would also debut his famous body paint during the event, coming out as Carnage.
Ibushi vs Devitt turned out to be one of the most underrated matches in Tokyo Dome history as it was a battle between Ibushi’s jaw-dropping athleticism and Devitt’s aggressiveness. Unsurprisingly, The Bullet Club was involved in the match but it didn’t turn out to be enough as Ibushi’s high-flying overwhelmed Devitt. He would get a hard-fought victory and dethrone Devitt to become the new Jr. Heavyweight Champion after 14-months.
