#3.) The actual reason behind his see-through mask
In 2010, Cody Rhodes had debuted a new character, calling himself Dashing Cody Rhodes. It was a fun character for him to try out, where he portrayed a narcissistic heel. However, in early 2011, Rey Mysterio legitimately shattered his nose in an accident in the ring. Instead of taking extended time off, Rhodes instead returned just one month later with a see-through mask.
He no longer used the Dashing moniker and it helped bring out a different, more psychotic side of his character. It was even the basis of his enjoyable feud with Rey Mysterio, which culminated with him beating the legend at WrestleMania 27. Surprisingly, more good came out of the injury than initially expected!
