Cody Rhodes began to travel with his father Dusty Rhodes more during the mid-1990s in WCW, just as Dusty was transitioning out of being a full-time wrestler. In 2002, Dusty started Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling and here, Cody Rhodes began his journey, but not as a wrestler, but as a referee.
For 3 years, Cody Rhodes paid his dues, being a wrestler for his father’s independent organization. He hadn’t even begun training to be a pro-wrestler yet, so it was more about him helping his father out. It’s just one of those things that wrestlers seem to have in common – oddball jobs before beginning their training.
