Welcome or welcome back to our weekly AEW Dynamite hits and misses series where we recap all the good and bad from the show.
Miss – Botched blade job on AEW Dynamite
Chris Daniels became a crimson mess after MJF left him busted wide open. This would’ve been a solid angle had Daniels not messed the timing of the blade job. The Fallen Angel was caught blading live. Either he forgot the cameras were rolling or the production guys failed on their part. This is why angles like these need to be pre-taped.
Hit – Will Ospreay vs. Bryan Keith
This was another weekly banger from Will Ospreay. Bryan Keith needs to move past Chris Jericho ASAP. The Bounty Hunter held his own against the Aerial Assassin. The knee to the face looked brutal. It took Ospreay a plethora of moves to put away Keith. The post-match brawl with Kyle Fletcher was fun to watch.
Miss – Mercedes Mone’s acting
The interaction with Billie Starks popped the crowd big time. That said, this writer never got the hype about Mercedes being a good actor. She’s far away from being a good actor. Just watch how she reacted to STARDOM’s Momo Watanabe. Just terrible acting!
Hit – Swerve Strickland, Prince Nana & Ricochet segment on AEW Dynamite
A solid promo from all three men. Swerve brought his intensity to the mic. The heel run is doing wonders for Ricochet. He straight up fired back and the crowd. Prince Nana brought up his legacy before he asked Strickland to get it back from Ricochet. This writer is looking forward to Strickland versus Ricochet II at AEW Revolution.
Miss – Harley Cameron vs. Deonna Purrazzo
It seems there were some communication issues during this match. Some spots looked sloppy in their execution. Deonna Purrazzo hasn’t done ANYTHING of substance in AEW as of late. Harley is one of the most over superstars on the roster. So, her winning was the right booking decision.

Hit – Orange Cassidy vs. Konosuke Takeshita
Some of you still seems to be sleeping on Orange Cassidy. Watch his match against Takeshita from last night’s AEW Dynamite. Both men killed it. Takeshita has some of the best looking slams in wrestling. His strength, coupled with Cassidy’s core momentum, give us some great spots. Don Callis looked funny with OC’s glasses. The Falcon Arrow towards the end looked brutal and confirmed Takeshita versus Omega for AEW Revolution.
Honorable Mentions
- The Outrunners surprised with a huge win on AEW Dynamite. Turbo and Magnum will face Lashley and Benjaming for their tag team titles. The Hurt Syndicate will go over to set up a title match against Lance Archer and Brian Cage.
- Cope and Willow Nightingale took out two members of The Death Riders with Con-Chair-To. Seeing Willow just destroy Shafir was satisfying. Tough guy Moxley couldn’t do anything to help his stablemates.
- The trios tag team match was great between Undisputed Kingdom and Garcia-FTR. AEW continues to tease a turn for O’Reilly and Strong. Cole pinning Garcia set up a TNT Championship match for AEW Collision.
