Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up: New WWE Tag Champs, Mariah May & Toni Storm Set For ‘Hollywood Ending’, Ashley Vox Interview

New WWE Women’s Tag Team Champs crowned. Mariah May and Toni Storm are set for a “Hollywood Ending” at AEW Revolution. Ashley Vox chats with WrestleZone and more!

WWE Crowns New Women’s Tag Champions

While the run of Bianca Belair and Naomi comes to an end, the reign of Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez is once again upon us.

In the main event of WWE Raw, Belair and Naomi defended the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships against The Judgment Day members. For Naomi, it marked her third televised title defense since stepping in for an injured Jade Cargill in December. For Morgan and Rodriguez, it ultimately set the stage for their third run as tag champions.

This tag team title battle saw a number of near falls, one of which came after Belair and Naomi laid out Morgan with a double KOD. An opportune Dominik Mysterio, however, placed Morgan’s put on the bottom to prevent a three count. Moments later, Mysterio tried to interfere again, but instead received a kick from Naomi and an ejection from the referee. Meanwhile, Rodriguez slammed Naomi’s head against the ring post, allowing Morgan to cover her for the win.

With this, Morgan and Rodriguez are now a record-breaking three-time Women’s Tag Team Champions. The duo previously held them twice in 2023.

Elsewhere on Raw, Lyra Valkyria successfully defended her Women’s Intercontinental championship against Dakota Kai. Afterward, Ivy Nile attacked both Kai and Valkyria, then posed with the respective championship. Nile previously lost to Kai in a number one contender’s match for a shot at the title.

This weekend, Naomi, Belair, and Morgan will meet again when they step inside the 2025 Women’s Elimination Chamber, with the winner earning a WWE Women’s World Championship match at WrestleMania 41. Joining them inside the caged structure are Alexa Bliss, Bayley, and Roxanne Perez.

Mariah May & Toni Storm Set For A ‘Hollywood Ending’ At AEW Revolution

The story of Mariah May and Toni Storm will seemingly culminate in dramatic fashion as the former has called for a “Hollywood ending” at AEW Revolution.

One week removed from losing the AEW Women’s World Championship at Grand Slam Australia, Mariah May attacked the new champion, Toni Storm, on AEW Collision. In doing so, May dragged her “Timeless” rival to the entrance stage and delivered a Storm Zero. She then demanded the AEW production team to hit Storm’s signature spotlight.

“Look what you made me do,” May told a motionless Storm. “You never did know how to write an ending, did you? So I guess I’m going to write one for you, and I am going to write it in your own blood. This is our spotlight. This is our moment. Let’s be stars together. At Revolution, let’s have a Hollywood ending.”

The 2025 AEW Revolution event will emanate from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California on March 9. There, Toni Storm will defend the AEW Women’s Championship against “The Glamour” Mariah May. This marks their third one-on-one title match, as May previously unseated Storm at AEW All In last August.

Elsewhere, Mercedes Mone will put her TBS Championship on the line against the International Women’s Cup winner, Momo Watanabe. Recently, she successfully defended the very title against Harley Cameron at Grand Slam Australia.

Carmella Sends Message Following WWE Contract Expiration

Last week, reports indicated that the WWE contract of Carmella had expired, meaning her tenure with the company had come to an end.

“The Princess of Staten Island” last wrestled in March 2023. Since then, she and her husband, Corey Graves, have welcomed a son into the world. Afterward, Carmella noted that she was battling drop foot, which made a potential in-ring return even more challenging.

Following news of her WWE departure, Carmella provided a message to fans, courtesy of an Instagram story.

“Some news broke last week, and I just wanted to let you know that I’ve seen all of your texts and tweets and messages and DMs,” Carmella said. “You guys are just the best, and I’m so grateful for you and everything that you’ve been saying about Carmella and my career, and I’m so blessed, so, thank you.”

According to Carmella, a future podcast appearance will ease some of the uncertainty surrounding her exit as well as her whereabouts. For right now, though, she leaves WWE as a former SmackDown Women’s Champion, one-time Women’s Tag Tem Champion, and three-time 24/7 Champion.
