Maya World opens up about her partnership with Jada Stone.
Maya World and Stone started 2024 as spontaneous tag partners when they took on Leah Night and Ameera Roze at United Pro Wrestling’s Locked In Event in January. Fast forward seven months, the former pair solidified themselves as the first-ever Reality of Wrestling Women’s Tag Team Champions by defeating Kalientita and Londyn Dior at ROW Summer of Champions. Now, they head into 2025 eager to continue their successful run.
“The first time I met [Jada] in January is the first time we actually we tagged together,” Maya World told WrestleZone’s Ella Jay. “The promoter was like, ‘This would be a good team. We should put you all together and face my other two friends,’ Leah Knight and Ameera Roze in North Carolina. So that was the first time we tagged.
“We realized we had a lot of chemistry and we were like ‘Hold on that’s kind of good. We should do some stuff with tagging later.’ And honestly, when we found out that Reality of Wrestling were having women’s tag team championships, we were like, come on, it has to be us. Who else would I tag with? I couldn’t have chosen anybody better than Jada.”
According to World, winning the ROW Women’s Tag Team Champions was a “big” moment for her personal career, as she had long envisioned herself working in Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling. Furthermore, World entered 2024 with the aim of proving herself. By August, she felt her efforts had paid off.
Dream Tag Team Opponents
With the ROW Women’s Tag Team Championships still strapped around their waists, World was asked to name dream opponents that she’d like her and Stone to defend them against. Foremost, World eyes WWE NXT’s Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend. World is also interested in another duo from WWE as well as former tag champions in TNA Wrestling.
“I know one that we’ve already called out on Twitter. We’re trying to face Lash Legend and Jakara. I love them, they’re so great. Jakara, she followed me on Twitter, and we’ve talked about hair stuff and just black girl things and wrestling. So I love her and I think that would be a great match.
“Of course, Bianca [Belair] and Jade [Cargill] that’s a given. Let me think. Killer Kelly and Masha Slamovich. I know they haven’t tagged in a while. They’re probably not tagging anymore. But that would have been such a great match if that happened. I miss them as a tag team, and I would love to have faced them.”
