Viva Van Is Eyeing NJPW Titles & A Permanent Home In Pro Wrestling

Viva Van wants it all.

“The Hellbent Vixen” Viva Van has kept herself quite busy this year, with appearances in AEW, ROH, CMLL, TNA, TJPW, and NJPW. Looking ahead, though, Van wants more than just appearances; she wants championship gold as well.

In speaking with WrestleZone’s Ella Jay, Van specifically circled two titles of interest — that being the IWGP Women’s Championship and NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship.

“It would be a dream to work against Mayu Iwatani for the IWGP Women’s Championship,” Van said. “I feel like I’ve been fighting for just the contendership for the New Japan Strong title. Maybe I need to focus on another title now, huh? That’s someone. Honestly. There’s so many women wrestlers now. I want to wrestle anyone and everyone all over the world.”

As Van alluded to, she remains a regular fixture in the NJPW STRONG women’s division, but has yet to receive a shot at the title currently held by Mercedes Mone. With her consistent training at the NJPW Academy, Van believes that will change someday soon.

“I’m traveling the world, and I’m getting better and better each day. And one day I will become the number one contender for the New Japan Strong women’s title,” Van said. “I’ve been busting my [butt] at the LA dojo. And so it will happen. It’s bound to happen.”

“I see [Mercedes Mone] backstage a lot [at AEW],” Van continued. Her brother is so sweet, Joshua. I’ve met her brother too. And yeah, we have interactions. We say hi to each other. We see each other all the time. She’s very nice, but yes, but I am looking at that belt.”

Viva Van Wants A Permanent Home

Overall, Van is looking to find herself a permanent home in professional wrestling, whether that be in NJPW or somewhere else. Should Van remain a free agent through the end of the 2024, however, she plans to relocate herself across the Pacific.

“What I hope is, like you mentioned, finally find that home and officially sign somewhere,” Van said. “But I made a promise to myself that if I don’t get signed by the end of this year, I will be moving to Japan. And that is a promise.”
