Serena Deeb Has So Much Gratitude For Pro Wrestling, Wants To Help Lift People Up

Serena Deeb wants to inspire.

Deeb currently serves as a regular and veteran fixture for AEW. 19 years ago Deeb was merely a trainee at Ohio Valley Wrestling. She reflected on her career during a recent interview with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard, while also pointing out what she’d like others to talk about more. Overall, Deeb hopes to see people view her through a wide lens.

“I think just the whole journey,” Deeb said. “I started wrestling in 2005. So, almost 20 years ago. I believe that I’ve done everything that I can to succeed in this business and I’m continuing to every single day. There’s constant growth. You’re never the perfect pro wrestler, maybe Bryan Danielson. But it’s just, you never stop growing and you never stop learning. And to me, what I want people to talk about is the legacy that I have built and continue to build. And that entirety of 20 years. Straight Edge Society, shaving my head on national television, working alongside [CM] Punk. And wrestling Indies, Japan seven times, Ring of Honor, Shimmer, and now AEW. It’s really the whole picture to me that is special and important.”

What Is Deeb’s Legacy?

As Deeb noted, her career spans across the likes of WWE, OVW, ROH, and AEW. What is her true legacy though? According to her, it’s lifting others up that need it.

“Every week putting my heart and soul into continuing to build my legacy. And to share that with not only my peers and people that I respect so much, but to share that with all the wrestling fans is — I have so much gratitude. I don’t take this for granted,” Deeb said. “Being able to get back in the ring after going through what I went through with those seizures, that’s huge to me.

“If I can inspire people, whether they’re scared of something in their lives or they feel down or they’re defeated or they just need some encouragement. My objective is to lift those people up,” she added. “I think more of us, more human beings need to be that way. And need to, we need to carry each other through these challenging times. If that’s what somebody needs.
