Welcome to our WWE RAW review series where we look back at the biggest hits and misses from the red brand.
The June 10, 2024, episode of RAW emanated from Toledo’s Huntington Center in Ohio. We got some interesting build-up on the final RAW before Clash at the Castle. Damian Priest, Drew McIntyre, Liv Morgan, and Sami Zayn, among others, worked the show this week.
Here’s what went down on WWE RAW.
Miss – Lyra Valkyria vs. IYO SKY on WWE RAW
IYO SKY attacked Lyra Valkyria on RAW last week. The two superstars clashed against each other on the red brand. Both women went back and forth for nearly 11 minutes. IYO picked up the win with a roll-up.
Their Queen of the Ring quarterfinals was much better. That said, both women had a decent opener on WWE RAW. IYO SKY brought a new kind of aggression to this match. Kayden Carter and Katana Chance’s post-match save could lead to a six-woman tag team match next week.
Hit – Liv Morgan & Dominik Mysterio
Liv Morgan continued her mind games against Dominik Mysterio this week on RAW. First, she entered The Judgment Day’s locker room without permission. Liv told Dom he needs to be with a woman who can call him daddy. She then gave him the card to her hotel room. Liv also tried to intervene in the six-man tag team match between The Judgment Day and LWO and Strowman.
I must admit this storyline between Liv and Dom is starting to grow on me. This is some stuff straight out of the Ruthless Aggression Era (my favorite WWE period). Carlito, with the “that’s cool” line and a giant smirk after Dom told them Liv gave him her hotel room pass was epic.
Miss – Women’s tag team match on WWE RAW
Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn squared off against Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark. WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair were on commentary for the match. Baszler and Stark won the match to earn a shot at the champions.
The women’s tag team division should get more TV time. The number lasted three minutes on a three-hour RAW broadcast. On the bright side, Alba and Isla will be competing in their home setting of Glasgow this Saturday.
Hit – Bron Breakker vs. Ilja Dragunov
Bron Breakker and Ilja Draunov went one-on-one on WWE RAW. These two absolute studs went back and forth for 17 minutes. Breakker grabbed the win following a third spear to Dragunov inside the ring.
My pick for the Match of the Night. Breakker and Dragunov put on a clinic at the Huntington Center. Dragunov’s flexibility is just insane. The way he popped an enziguiri in the early goings of the match was special.
I expect more singles matches between these two amazing talents.
Miss – Awesome Truth vs. AOP
R-Truth put himself and The Miz in another impromptu World Tag Team Championship match on WWE RAW this week. The champions put their titles on the line against Authors of Pain. Truth and Miz picked up the win following New Day’s interference.
Not the best match of the night by a long shot, but I’m really digging Scarlett’s “Fortune Teller” gimmick. She is really good on the mic. Let’s see if we get a triple threat between AOP, Awesome Truth and New Day before Xavier Woods turns his back on Kofi Kingston.
Hit – Bron breaks Ricochet on WWE RAW
Breakker tried to take out Dragunov after their war. The Mad Dragon was saved by Ricochet who took out Breakker with an aerial clothesline. Ricochet and Dragunov were attacked by Breakker backstage. The second-generation Steiner completely destroyed Ricochet seemingly putting an end to his WWE run.
This is the best backstage brawl featuring Bron Breakker since his parking lot fight with Baron Corbin. Breakker took out Dragunov with a fourth spear backstage. He then proceeded to manhandle Ricochet. I’m glad Ricochet didn’t land on his head when Breakker tossed him onto the production truck. The slam through the windshield was brutal.
Word on the internet is that this was Ricochet’s final WWE appearance. The real-life Trevor Mann intends to leave the company after his contract expires. Fans can read the latest on Ricochet by clicking the link here.
Honorable Mentions
- Otis almost attacked Chad Gable on RAW. The big man lost his singles match due to Chad Gable’s intervention. Gable told Maxxine and Tozawa to get out of the ring. He then told Otis to finish the job. Otis reluctantly agreed. I’m guessing Otis turns full face on Chad Gable this Saturday.
- Drew McIntyre delivered a great one-liner on WWE RAW. McIntyre told Priest “you gotta respect a man who’s willing to dig his own grave after Priest teased defending his title without The Judgment Day’s involvement at Clash at the Castle.
