Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up: Skye Blue Challenges Toni Storm, DREAMWAVE Prepares For ‘Uprising,’ Cherry Stephens Interview

Skye Blue will challenge Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s Championship. DREAMWAVE Wrestling gears up for Uprising. Cherry Stephens chats with WrestleZone, and more! Let’s break it down in this week’s edition of Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up!

Skye Blue Set For AEW Women’s Championship Match

Following her victory at AEW Full Gear, Toni Storm was crowned as the new AEW Women’s Champion, which began her third reign with the title. Four days later, Storm celebrated her title win with an official acceptance speech on AEW Dynamite.

For this special occasion, Storm was introduced by RJ City and Renee Paquette. Recent AEW signee Mariah May then presented Storm with the AEW Women’s Championship. In her subsequent acceptance speech, Storm issued her thanks to AEW President Tony Khan, Warner Bros. Discovery, the women’s locker room, and the fans, especially “The Little Toni Storms” who look up to her.

Before Storm could exit the stage, though, she was interrupted by Skye Blue, who was headed down to the ring for her match against Anna Jay and Ruby Soho. Storm, of course, did not appreciate the interruption. Now, the two will go one-on-one on Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite. There, Storm will defend the AEW Women’s Championship against Blue.

Before their clash on Dynamite, Storm and Blue delivered messages to each other on Saturday’s episode of AEW Collision. As Storm mocked Blue’s new “spooky” appearance, Blue responded with a line out of Storm’s playbook. “I’m gonna have my chin up, my t*ts out, and I’m gonna shove my shoe right up your ass,” Blue said.

DREAMWAVE’S ‘Uprising’

This Friday, DREAMWAVE Wrestling will host its first-ever all-women’s show, Uprising. This milestone comes on the heels of the Follow Your Heart event, in which the company crowned its inaugural DREAMWAVE Women’s Champion.

At the preceding showcase, “The Center of Attention” Brittnie Brooks battled “The Real Deal” Zayda Steel for the DREAMWAVE Women’s Championship — a title that was officially unveiled by WWE Hall of Famer Madusa. In the end, it was Brooks who emerged victorious, earning herself the right to be the first-ever holder of the title. Now, Brooks prepares for her first title defense.

At DREAMWAVE’s Uprising event, Brooks will put her title on the line against “The Russian Dynamite” Masha Slamovich. While prior opponents may have feared Slamovich, Brooks embraces the task that lay ahead of her, recently telling WrestleZone’s Ella Jay that she was “ready to tear the house down” with Slamovich.

Elsewhere on the card, Brooks’ previous opponent, Zayda Steel, will face former WWE NXT UK star Xia Brookside. All Elite Wrestling star Emi Sakura will also be competing, as she is tasked with taking on “The Renaissance Woman” Hyan. Other notable matches include Shazza McKenzie vs Miyu Yamashita, J-Rod vs Maggie Lee, and Heather Reckless vs Rebecca J . Scott.

The full card for DREAMWAVE’s Uprising event is as follows:

  • DREAMWAVE Women’s Championship: Brittnie Brooks (c) vs Masha Slamovich
  • Zayda Steel vs Xia Brookside
  • Emi Sakura vs Hyan
  • Shazza McKenzie vs Miyu Yamashita
  • J-Rod vs Maggie Lee
  • Heather Reckless vs Rebecca J. Scott
  • Zamaya vs Sierra
  • Shelly Benson & Ivy Malibu vs Sage Hale & Briar Hale
  • Free-Range Kara vs Badger Briggs

DREAMWAVE Wrestling’s Uprising event will take place on Friday, December 8 in LaSalle, Illinois, airing live on IWTV at 6pm CST.
