Heels’ Chris Bauer Would Love To Star In A WWE Studios Movie

Chris Bauer found himself jealous of Wild Bill’s career at different times during HEELS season two.

HEELS star Chris Bauer spoke* with WrestleZone ‘s Managing Editor Bill Pritchard. During the conversation, Bauer mentioned a more “evangelic side” of his character in season two. Pritchard noted that it was an appropriate description since one episode showed Wild Bill filming a movie where he played an angel, and Bauer talked about how much he had filming it.

“Yeah, the great thing about playing Wild Bill is that, like I find myself at different times, really jealous of his career. I had a ball this season, and it’s entirely because of what they let me do,” Chris Bauer admitted. “But I think that we touched on a lot of things.

“I mean, I remember when WWE was making those movies more often. I don’t even know if they do now, but The Marine and I think Big Show had a movie, and they’re cranking out these movies, and I remember thinking, God, I would love to be in one of those movies.”

When asked about his experience at WrestleMania 39 earlier this year, Bauer spoke about how impressed he was by the production of the company.

“Dude, I went to WrestleMania this year. I was so impressed by the production of that company,” Chris Bauer said. “I mean, it’s really rare when something’s bad. You know what I mean? Sometimes, things are less well-conceived than others. You can’t hit it 100% of the time. But they — it’s very clear that quality and taking pride in quality is an aspect of that company, and all things aside, that’s just something I really admire.”

The humor of HEELS season 2

When asked about the humor in the second season of HEELS, Bauer spoke about what it took to make that a reality.

“It’s showbiz, man,” Chris Bauer said. “That’s the thing, it’s like the show must go on and, again, wrestling as the template for his whole aesthetic. It’s like you better be able to incorporate a spontaneous discovery in the moment that wasn’t supposed to happen because if you can’t, that’s it. You’re done. And I admire that so much about this character, man.

“He is showfolk times infinity. And, again, back to your original question. That’s one of the interesting things and fun things about season two. It’s like he’s hit an age, and he’s hit a point in his career where it’s like, how’s he gonna survive outside of an arena?

“Because at the end of the day, most of life is taking place on the way to and on the way home from the match. And it’s caught up to him, and he’s got to figure out how to do it and thematically applicable to the whole show of Heels. He needs other people to finish what he can’t on his own.”
