EC3 would love to see if he could put Percy Watson back in the spotlight.
WrestleZone recently spoke with EC3, who is currently working for the NWA. EC3 faced off with former WWE/NXT star Kevin Kiley (aka Alex Riley) at NWA 312. EC3 handpicked Kiley as his opponent, so he was asked if there were any other former NXT cast members he’d entertain working with again.
“From the NXT days, I would love to dust off Percy Watson. Dude, what an athlete. What a talent. What a character he could have been. But another guy that was too charismatic, too bold for his own good,” he explained, “where when he got confined to the narrow-minded views of a creative team who doesn’t understand when people react to something, you run with it as opposed to when people react to something you don’t say, ‘No, no, no, you can’t do that anymore.’
“It’s baffling. A full-fledged, in-shape, full-tilt Percy Watson would have been the next Rock if you ask me. Can I dust him off and get a half-assed Dwayne out of him? Probably. I can do that with just about anybody,” EC3 added. “Seeing Vince McMahon’s mustache makes me really want to see Eli Cottonwood come back just for a day because I would just want to hear him saying ‘mustache.’”
EC3 also said he’d love to have a Betamax reunion with Maxine (Karlee Perez), joking that they are probably meant to be together.
“And maybe they both will be at my wedding and I’ll marry one of them and the other one could be the minister, because Percy is qualified to do that,” EC3 joked.
Percy Watson (Nick McNeil) first signed with WWE in 2009 and he started in FCW, the company’s developmental territory prior to NXT. There, he teamed with Darren Young as the South Beach Party Boys.
Watson was part of seasons two and five of NXT competition series, and later had a regular role in the rebooted NXT brand in Florida. Watson was released by WWE on May 17, 2013. He later returned to the company in 2016 and worked as a commentator for NXT, Main Event and 205 Live. Watson ultimately left the company in May 2019, reportedly to pursue new ventures outside of pro wrestling.
McNeil had a cameo appearance as “The Unknown Hand” in EC3’s Free The Narrative feature in 2021. He has also appeared on Chicago Fire and The Walking Dead, using a wrestler gimmick called Captain Commonwwealth in the latter.
