Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up: Liv Morgan Stands Tall, Rok-C Vs Trish Adora, TBS Championship Tournament Continues

Women’s wrestling has been seeing red: Liv Morgan stands tall in her confrontation with Becky Lynch, Rok-C defends the ROH Women’s Championship against Trish Adora, AEW continues their TBS Championship tournament, and much more! Let’s break it down in this week’s edition of Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up!

Liv Morgan Is Coming For The RAW Women’s Championship

Monday Night RAW featured an intense meeting between Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan this week.

After speaking on her Survivor Series opponent, Charlotte Flair, RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch came face to face with the number one contender for her title, Liv Morgan. Morgan previously won a fatal five-way match to lock in her status as the number one contender.

Lynch declared that Morgan had underperformed during her time away from the ring the last year. This fueled Morgan’s quest for gold even more it seems, though. Morgan revealed that Lynch believed she would become champion while Becky was on hiatus. However, Lynch is now back, and Morgan still has yet to achieve singles gold.

Lynch’s harsh words to Morgan then initiated a physical altercation between the two female superstars. Lynch attempted the Manhandle Slam, but becomes caught with a counter by Liv Morgan who rolls through with an arm drag, launching Lynch to the outside. Lynch retreated to the ramp and demanded that Morgan didn’t touch her championship, which happened to still be laying in the ring. Morgan defied Lynch’s request, though.

Liv Morgan stood tall, proudly raising the RAW Women’s Championship to the approval of the audience before laying it back down for Lynch.

After RAW, Morgan appeared on this week’s edition of RAW Talk to discuss this moment, and what it meant to her:

“I knew I wanted to grow up and be WWE Women’s Champion. On my first day here, I knew even more that I wanted to be this WWE Women’s Champion. But something about picking up that title for the first time holding it in my hand and raising it above my head. For the whole entire crowd to see, is something completely different. You know, now I don’t want it. Now, I need it,” she explained.

“It’s the biggest match of my whole entire career,” Morgan emotionally revealed, “If you didn’t know before, you know tonight because Becky announced it in front of everyone. When she left on her pregnancy leave, she hugged me goodbye and said that when she came back, I’d be champion, and I’m not. Whatever expectation that Becky had for me, I didn’t fulfill, but also Becky does not need to be having any expectations on anything that I do. I only do that for myself. Also about Beck, she’s ‘Big Time Becks,’ you know, everything that she thinks she is, she is. She is a fantastic mother. She has a husband. She’s a millionaire. She has a fairytale life, the life that she always thought is something that she has. You know, Becky has nothing to prove. But I have nothing to lose.”

Liv Morgan is slated to face Becky Lynch for the RAW Women’s Championship at a time that is yet to be determined. Lynch must first come face to face with her long-standing rival, Charlotte Flair, this Sunday at Survivor Series. Meanwhile, Morgan looks to continue her momentum in representing the red brand in the traditional women’s five-on-five Survivor Series elimination match.

ROH Women’s Championship On The Line: Rok-C Versus Trish Adora

ROH Women’s World Champion Rok-C continues to impress with her streak of successful title defenses.

In the midst of her inaugural championship reign, Rok-C put her Ring of Honor Women’s Championship on the line against fellow ROH talent, “The Afro-Punk” Trish Adora. In addition, Rok-C also simultaneously defended her New Texas Pro Women’s Championship. With two championships now at stake, Adora and Rok-C brought together a spectacular showcase for women’s wrestling fans.

Both superstars cracked the top thirty on this year’s PWI Women’s 150, as Trish Adora ranked #18 on this year, while Rok-C made the list at #28. Adora currently holds the Pan-Afrikan World Diaspora Wrestling World Championship. Rok-C also holds the Sabotage War of the Gender Championship, notching her belt with three championships currently.

These fierce competitors met over the weekend at New Texas Pro Wrestling’s ‘Dallas 41’ event from Irving Arena in Dallas, Texas. The show was broadcast live on IWTV for fans to watch.

In the end, “The Prodigy” Rok-C defeated “The Afro-Punk” Trish Adora to retain both her championships at Dallas 41. Additionally, Raychell Rose defeated Killa Kate in another solid performance by both competitors.

The string of title defenses doesn’t stop here, though. Ring Of Honor is in the midst of determining “The Prodigy’s” next challenger ahead of their Final Battle pay-per-view next month.

Trish Adora, Allysin Kay, and Mandy Leon will battle it out in an intense triple threat match this weekend on ROH television. The winner of that match will then go on to face Willow on December 4th, where the winner will be named the number one contender for Rok-C at Final Battle. So, it is possible to see round two of Adora versus Rok-C, should Adora overcome the odds.

Nevertheless, Rok-C is slated to make her first title defense in Ring Of Honor territory after already impressing with five successful defenses outside of the promotion. Final Battle takes place December 11th from Baltimore, Maryland.

TBS Championship Tournament Updates

The tournament to crown the first-ever TBS Champion continues forward to the quarter-finals.

But first, let’s recap the final two matches of the opening round.

“The Queen Slayer” Anna Jay and Jamie Hayter collided in a first-round match on the November 3rd edition AEW Dynamite. Hayter came accompanied by the AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker, and Rebel.

Anna Jay fought valiantly, striking Hayter with a series of strikes and landing a DDT for a near pinfall. However, a distraction from Baker and Rebel shifted the momentum in Hayter’s favor. Due to the interference, Hayter surprised Jay with a lariat to gain the pinfall and victory. This win allowed Hayter to now advance to the second round, where she will take on crowd-favorite, Thunder Rosa.

Red Velvet and The Bunny then concluded the first-round matchups on the November 5th episode of AEW Rampage. These two competitors immediately brought the heat, as Red Velvet charged to the ring and quickly offered up brutal strikes to her opponent. The action spilled to the outside as momentum shifted in favor of The Bunny, who began the offense against Velvet, as Jade Cargill watched from the outside.

Eventually, it looked like The Bunny was moments away from sealing the victory, but Red Velvet countered with her finisher. The Final Slice commenced the final sequence of the match, as Red Velvet then officially earned the win over The Bunny. With this victory, Red Velvet advances to the second round of the TBS Championship tournament, where she will go on to face her rival, Jade Cargill.

Speaking of Jade Cargill, she recently celebrated her one-year anniversary of signing with All Elite Wrestling. Last week on AEW Rampage, Cargill took on veteran Santana Garrett, with Red Velvet watching closely at ringside. Cargill exploded with fierce forearms to Santana Garrett, before the action ensued outside the ring. Cargill would then launch Garrett into Red Velvet, who was sitting front row in the crowd. Velvet, clearly not pleased, had to be held back. Meanwhile, Santana attempted a splash in the ring, but Cargill swiftly caught her and delivered her finisher to close out the match.

Moments after the match, Red Velvet hopped the barricade and delivered a monstrous spear to Jade Cargill. Velvet then spitefully threw the anniversary cake into the face of Smart Mark Sterling, forcing a post-match brawl between Velvet and Cargill.

Tensions are certainly rising at AEW heads into the quarter-finals of the TBS Championship Tournament. Here are the updated brackets:

Round 1 Matches

  • Ruby Soho defeated Penelope Ford
  • Hikaru Shida defeated Serena Debb
  • Jamie Hayter defeated Anna Jay
  • Red Velvet defeated The Bunny

Round 2 Matches

  • Thunder Rosa vs Jamie Hayter
  • Jade Cargill vs Red Velvet
  • Nyla Rose vs Hikaru Shida
