Mercedes Moné Has Mixed Feelings On WWE RAW Dropping To 2 Hours

Former WWE Superstar and current AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Moné shared her thoughts on the Netflix move, and she sees a silver lining.

The year 2025 will be a huge year for the world of professional wrestling. For the first time ever, the flagship show of WWE’s Monday Night show, Raw will be moving to the juggernaut of streaming services, Netflix. The move will take place in January 2025.

In the most recent edition of the Moné Mag Newsletter, Moné spoke about the partnership between Netflix and WWE. Moné also mentioned that she has mixed feelings about Raw dropping from three hours to two hours.

It’s worth noting that the format change starts on October 7, but it is only planned to be a 2-hour show until December 30, 2024. Once RAW premieres on Netflix, it is expected to revert back to a 3-hour show. The cut to two hours is due to WWE and NBCUniversal reaching a deal to keep RAW on USA Network through 2024 since the previous deal expires in September.

“Let’s talk RAW. Word is that it’s dropping from 3 hours to 2, and honestly, I’ve got mixed feelings about it. I’ve always loved having that extra hour because it gives more performers a chance to shine. Losing that time could mean fewer opportunities for the roster. It’s hard enough for talent, especially women, to get TV time. The silver lining could be Netflix. With Netflix, I’m assuming (and hoping) there will be many new ways to showcase talent. In the end, I’m about more opportunities for talent, which leads to more entertainment for fans and more money for the business. It’s the best way for all to win – especially the roster and fans,” Mercedes Moné wrote.
