Ryan Nemeth: Tag Team Chemistry Is Hard To Define, But You Can’t Fake It

There are several brothers who have teamed up together in the world of professional wrestling. Adding to that list is TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth and his brother, Ryan Nemeth.

Ryan Nemeth opened up about teaming up with his brother during a recent interview with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard. The Nemeths have a handful of tag team matches together, but Nic recently said they have natural chemistry despite the lack of in-ring time. Ryan said they might not have the tenure of a team like the Hardys, but they just click in the ring.

“What he means is that we haven’t tagged together for ten years the way Matt and Nick [Jackson] have or the way Matt and Jeff [Hardy] have. (A lot of Matt’s out there. Jeez.) But the few times we have, it’s been easy. I remember the easiest and most fun wrestling match that I ever had was, The Nemeth Bros against the Lucha Bros this past Summer at the Republic of Lucha’s giant festivol. Ends in LA yeah. LA I say maybe June or May, It was recently, it was hot I remember. But that was the third or fourth time we ever wrestled together and I thought, ‘Okay, we are a team. We are meant to be a heel tag team.’”

Chemistry is hard to define

Just like charisma, Nemeth says chemistry is still hard to define in pro wrestling. The definition could vary from team to team, and the partners might connect in different ways.

“It’s tricky. And one person might mean something else. Maybe when FTR describes chemistry they mean something else than when the Hardys describe chemistry or when I describe it with Nic. There is unspoken facial expressions or short hand verbally that Nic and I have that no one else on Earth has because we’ve grown up together for decades. You can’t fake that. And that is very useful if you haven’t literally wrestled… We are trying to think of double-team maneuvers and we are just thinking of referencing SNL sketches that we both loved in 1993 to help communicate. And that is useful. It is really useful for us.”

Ryan Nemeth enjoyed the matches he had with Nic in TNA and hopes to get another chance to team there again, naming the Hardys as potential opponents. Ryan appeared on the Bound For Glory broadcast (on the receiving end of an attack from JBL), so that might be another way fans will see him get involved.
