Io Shirai has confirmed she is leaving Japan’s Stardom promotion, and it has largely speculated that she is going to sign with WWE.
Shirai wrote a new blog where she announced she was leaving Stardom for more opportunities in her career. The journal entry (roughly translated) says Shirai’s last event with Stardom will be on June 17th at Korakuen Hall. Her name came up as a possibility with WWE after Tokyo Sports claimed she has signed with WWE and will report to the company after finishing her commitments with Stardom.
Shirai was previously rumored to be signing with WWE, but the company decided not to offer her a contract due to nagging injuries. Shirai was said to have a neck injury that was discovered during medical testing last year.
