On his toughest training day:
“I think wrestling is probably my hardest day. You’re constantly in somebody’s face, you’re not trying to give up any ground. It’s no secret I didn’t wrestle in high school, and everybody I train with did, so they have a lifetime of experience but I love that. Because what better place to get better at the one thing you’re bad at.”
On when he might have his debut UFC fight:
“I never gave anybody a concrete date because I wasn’t sure myself. A big part of me wants to fight before the end of the year, I don’t want to wait too long, but I kind of view it probably unfairly, as like having a kid. You can plan as much as you want to have a kid, but you’re never gonna be prepared. Eventually I have to fight, and to me that’s probably when I will learn the most.”
On fighters thanking God after fights:
“I’m a free speech guy. That being said, if there is a God, and I’m an atheist, I don’t believe there is, I think he has better things to do than worry about what somebody’s doing for 15 minutes in a cage. I’d like to see people thank their coaches more than Jesus…I just think it’s a weird thing to do. I don’t know Yoel, I hope to meet him someday…but I do think his general message was he was pretty disappointed that we legalized gay marriage, and he’s allowed to say that. That’s the great thing about this country. He’s absolutely allowed to say it and I’m allowed to poke fun of him on Twitter about it.”
Punk’s thoughts on Conor McGregor:
“I love Conor McGregor. Conor McGregor’s great business…that’s a guy who gets it. That’s pro wrestling. That’s Mohammad Ali, and Mohammad Ali got that from Gorgeous George.”
Punk goes on to say that he currently feels better now than he ever has, and life on the road while he was working as a pro wrestling was becoming very difficult:
