It was previously reported that “Rowdy” Roddy Piper suggested the reason he was no longer with PodcastOne was because “Stone Cold” Steve Austin took offense to one of his segments and caused the show to be pulled.
For those unaware, comedian Will Sasso (MAD TV) did an Austin impersonation on Piper’s show, and it was said that Austin was upset with this and the show was then pulled “after six hours” according to Piper. Some of the things joked about were Austin’s rumored Wrestlemania week ‘heat’ with Vince McMahon, quitting WWE, basing his career off of “What” and “Hell Yeah”, among other topics.
Austin has now spoken out against the rumors, saying he didn’t like the podcast at all and thought it had some personal nature to it. He says he did have it removed from PodcastOne rotation, but says him getting Piper fired “couldn’t be farther from the truth.” He says while he can’t go into specific details, he says Piper requested a meeting with the president of PodcastOne and said he wanted to leave and focus on other things. He also said while he didn’t have anything to do with Piper leaving, Piper is still under contract (to his knowledge) and welcome back if he wants.
“…To Roddy, you’re one of the all time greats in the professional wrestling business. I cheered for you as a babyface, I booed for you as a hee, and respected everything that you did. Your Hall of Fame career speaks for what it is… to that, no hard feelings. I don’t want to back and forth on this; it’s a closed book… that’s my side of the story. I will not respond to anything else. What I have spoken is the bottom line, and what I’ve spoken is the truth. I had nothing to do with Roddy Piper leaving PodcastOne. End of story.”
