Paul Heyman was the guest on a special live edition of the “Stone Cold” Steve Austin podcast last night, which aired on the WWE Network following Monday Night Raw.
Featured below is a detailed recap of the podcast, as well as a few direct quotes from Austin and Heyman throughout the show.
-Heyman confirms that Brock Lesnar will be back on television “soon”, and talks about his life as a farmer after all these years as a multi-million dollar UFC fighter and WWE Superstar. Austin is trying to get Brock to the Broken Skull Ranch so they can go hunting together.
-Heyman’s reaction to fans who think Brock needs to be around more: “He loves the business but he loves his children more. And his children need a father more than WWE needs Brock Lesnar.”
-Austin wants Heyman to take on more clients while Brock is off television, which is most of the time. “When you put me with somebody else, it’s always Brock Lesnar’s guy with ‘that other person’. And that’s a hard position to put that person in. The one person that it did work with was [CM] Punk, because we also have a friendship, and it’s also a much different dynamic. And I played, with Punk, a different character that I played with Brock.”
-Heyman talks or texts to CM Punk “almost every day”. The two talk about him in UFC, and the reality of his chances in Mixed Martial Arts.
-Austin brings up Jake Roberts winning his matches with a DDT, and wrestlers selling the move like it meant something. He says now you see the DDT in every match, and nobody is selling for it. They joke about ECW, and he asks if the wrestlers today are missing something. Heyman says if Mark Henry used a headlock as his finisher, it would get over if the roster respected it, nobody else used it, the announcers put it over, and nobody kicked out of it until they needed to for a WrestleMania moment.
