In a segment recorded for the Royal Rumble post-show on the WWE Network, John Cena talked about coming up short in his World Heavyweight Championship match against Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins. He questioned if anyone could beat Lesnar, but was quickly cut off by Rusev, angry over his Royal Rumble elimination. The two almost came to blows, but were separated by several Superstars and officials.
It has been rumored for several months that John Cena and Rusev would face off at WrestleMania 31 in a match that will either establish the “Bulgarian Brute” as the top, most dominant heel in a post-Lesnar WWE landscape, or finally end his undefeated streak (he’s never been pinned or submitted). It would seem that the seeds for a possible ‘Mania match between the two were planted tonight after the Royal Rumble.
