The New Main Event Announce Team
It appears that Tom Phillips and John Layfield will continue to function as the WWE Main Event commentary team for the foreseeable future. Michael Cole was noticeably absent from the show last week, when the company made their big announce team shake-up, moving Byron Saxton and Jerry “The King” Lawler to Smackdown, and bringing Booker T back full-time to Monday Night Raw.
Tom and JBL were on hand for tonight’s episode of Main Event, taped prior to the 1/22 edition of WWE Smackdown. The show will not air on the WWE Network, but will be available through Hulu Plus and a few international television markets.

(1) Kofi Kingston def. Tyson Kidd. Kingston got the roll-up after countering the Sharpshooter. Cesaro, Adam Rose and Kidd attacked the New Day after the match, while Natalya looked on at ringside.
(2) The Miz & Damien Mizdow def. Los Matadores.
(3) Natalya def. Summer Rae. A very quick match.
(4) Bray Wyatt def. Jack Swagger. Said to be a pretty solid main event for Main Event. Wyatt is being booked strong with wins heading into the Royal Rumble.
