Former WWE Superstar Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is officially set to star in the upcoming HBO comedy series "Ballers", which has been picked up for a full first season following a successful pilot.
The Rock will play the role of star and executive producer on the project, alongside "Pain & Gain" co-star and friend Mark Wahlberg. The official premise of the series is listed as "a series centered around a group of football players and their families, friends, and handlers."
Other actors for the project include Rob Corddry, Taylor Cole and OMar Benson Miller. "Friday Night Lights" and "Battleship" director Peter Berg helmed the pilot for the half-hour series, which will begin production later this year.
