The possibility of Damien Sandow cashing in his MITB contract and winning the World Heavyweight Championship seems to be growing, reports F4WOnline.com, and when it takes place could be near. With RVD's contract status up in the air, Sandow is being looked at as a good choice right now to headline the SD side of things.
There have been many conflicting reports regarding Rob Van Dam's contrac and his future. Some have claimed he hasn't signed a new contract, and some reports state he has a "90 days on, 90 days off" type of situation.
In either case, it's expected RVD will be taking some time off after WWE Battleground this Sunday.
This would leave a void in the main event title picture on Smackdown alongside Alberto Del Rio. There's been talk of having Ricardo turn on RVD and rejoining ADR because there's not a lot of options for Ricardo if he's not with one of these two men.
RVD winning the title at Battleground and Sandow immediately cashing in is also an option. However, WWE officials are concerned with going that route since they just did it at SummerSlam two months ago.
What is certain is that WWE Creative wants Del Rio to remain in the featured program, with or without the gold. With Sheamus out due to injury, Orton on the Raw side of things, Taker with his "C" schedule — there's just not many options better than what they already have established with Del Rio.
