WWE issued the following today: STAMFORD, Conn., August 9, 2007 â” World Wrestling Entertainment® has hired Michael Diana as Affiliate Sales Director, Western Region. A 13-year veteran of cable marketing and sales, Michael will be responsible for the distribution and marketing of WWEâs products â” including WWE 24/7┢ On Demand, WWE Pay-Per-View and WWE broadband â” to cable, satellite and telco partners throughout the western region. Michael will report to Peter Clifford, Senior Vice President, Affiliate Sales & Marketing. He joins WWE from Showtime Networks Inc., where he served as Account Director, overseeing affiliate relationships with companies such as Comcast Cable, Cablevision and Mediacom. âMichaelâs experience with cable affiliate promotions, sales and marketing, as well as his established relationships with major MSOs, will be a tremendous asset to our affiliate team,â said Peter Clifford. âHaving Michael on our team will be invaluable as we work to meet growing affiliate partner needs.â
This Monday night, World Wrestling Entertainment makes its long awaited RAW return to the “world’s most famous arena”, Madison Square Garden. WWE’s return to MSG will feature both a live RAW as well as a TV taping for Saturday Night’s Main Event, which will air August 18th on NBC on. WWE will tape Saturday Night’s Main Event first at 7PM and then RAW will follow live. MSG shows are always huge but this Monday night will be one to remember. After several months off due to injury, Triple H will make his own long awaited return. Many will remember the last time Triple H made a return to the Garden – back in January of 2002 after spending most of 2001 rehabbing a quad tear.
Hulk Hogan is featured today in an interview with The Sun over in the United Kingdom. Hogan blames the low SummerSlam payout he received as the reason why he did not return to WWE for this yearâs WrestleMania. He says in the interview that once his promotion gets off of the ground it will beat WWE. The headline of the story is: âHulk: Iâll defeat desperate Vince.â
