We reported here about a week ago the false promotion after canceling TNA’s Samoa Joe by South Carolna promotion, CWA (Champions With Attitude), and promoter’s Roger Gleaton in ring promo blaming TNA and suggesting TNA was stealing CWA storylines.
I learned yesterday that CWA & Roger Gleaton canceled it’s show for this weekend, 12-5, by texting some of the talent (not all) 5 days out. He wrote in the text, “Thanks to gp,bk,jw and all the other haters of cwa the dec 5 in cola has been cancelled.sorry on having to do this 5 days out.” Interestingly, he had told the building management at the The Jamil Temple he was canceling the show last week prior to Thanksgiving.
Until yesterday he was still promoting the show on his website. Today the poster with the card is gone. cwaprowrestling.com
I am wondering if the 5 day out cancelation has anything to do with a “commission & guarantee agreement” Roger Gleaton had many CWA regulars sign. The agreement guaranteed a percentage to the wrestler from CWA for any mrchandise created by CWA and sold based on the wrestler. No commissions have been paid, yet merchandise was created. The agreement also said that CWA & Gleaton had until 7 days priorto an event to cancel it or talent would receive their guarantee. In this case he canceled with the building over 7 days before, but with talent 5 days before. Coincidence?
Wrestling in South Carolina is regulated. Likely it is not a good idea for CWA to keep making mistakes as it has recently, or the SC Commission may take action. I understand some are pushing for that to happen.
