Hornswoggle might not like it, but who are we to argue with a Wrestling God?
Today is St. Patrick’s Day, and plenty of pro wrestling personalities and social media accounts are celebrating the annual holiday. The On This Day in WWE Twitter account wished everyone a Happy St. Patrick’s Day by posting a clip of JBL whipping a trash can at Hornswoggle.
The clip is from JBL’s violent “Belfast Brawl” match against Finlay which served as the opening match on the main card at WrestleMania 24. JBL also commented on the clip, which also shows him crushing a second trash can over Finlay’s head.
“Happy St Paddy’s Day,” JBL wrote on Twitter. “And just a reminder-hitting a leprechaun today with a trash can is not only legal, it’s encouraged.”

JBL recreated the trash can spot with Hornswoggle earlier this year
Layfield recreated the WrestleMania sequence at a recent event presented by ACW Wisconsin, the indie promotion owned by Swoggle (Dylan Postl). JBL joked about flying to the middle of nowhere just “to hit a leprechaun with a trash can.” He later explained on the Something To Wrestle podcast that hitting Swoggle with trash cans is just something he enjoys.
“I love hitting Hornswoggle with trash cans,” JBL proudly exclaimed. “The trash can was really heavy. People wonder why I didn’t sling it, it’s because it weighed like 40 pounds. It was like the ultimate potato, I took him straight to CTE.”
JBL ended the segment by praising Postl, crediting him for getting in great shape and being a great father and wrestling promoter.
“Dylan, Hornswoggle, looks really good. He’s gotten himself in great shape. He’s got a wonderful young son who’s playing sports and in great shape, training to be a wrestler. Dylan’s doing great stuff up there. He’s got a great show that he runs, got a lot of people in his academy that he runs. Dylan’s doing absolutely wonderful, I love Dylan.”
