Paul Walter Hauser Highlights Why Chris Farley Would Easily Win A Comedy Battle Royal

Paul Walter Hauser thinks wrestling and acting are very different in the way you prepare for each role.

The actor has made the transition into wrestling in recent years. He has appeared on AEW while also stepping into the ring for numerous companies. Most recently, he was named as the executive producer of MLW.

Paul Walter Hauser appeared on The Perfect Parfait. He was asked about the difference in wrestling and acting and how he prepares for both disciplines.

“I’d say mostly different in that when you’re about to wrestle somebody, I watch tape on that person and then I study what moves they do. And I’m like, okay, well let’s do this thing where you get your moves in, I make you look good, then I get some stuff in, you make me look good, and we tell sort of a miniature story within that match, whether it’s 5 minutes or 30.”

“So that’s a little more of a writer’s mindset than an actor’s. In film, it’s usually best not to watch tape of the people you’re working with.” Paul Walter Hauser added.

Paul Walter Hauser highlights which of his comedy heroes would win a battle royal

Continuing, Paul Walter Hauer revealed a tattoo on his arm of his six comedy heroes. He chose which one of them would win a battle royal, handing the title to the late Chris Farley.

“These six guys are the ones who made me want to do comedy: Martin Short, Daniel Stern, Chris Farley, Jim Varney (aka Ernest), Jim Carrey, and Robin Williams,” said Paul Walter Hauser.

[Whose winning a Battle Royal?] Farley, without a doubt. Martin Short’s going to climb the cage and try to escape, but he’s going to get afraid of heights midway up. Daniel Stern is athletic enough to last in the match, but he’s also going to get scared at some point.

“Robin Williams is too concerned about entertaining the crowd that he’s not really truly in the match. Jim Carrey is too concerned with the character, trying to be all like, ‘Ahh,’ physical, but Farley is just beating the shit out of people.”

“I think he’s doing the Ultimate Warrior Splash, where he hits the ropes and then just jumps and lands on the guy belly first, belly to belly,” Paul Walter Hauser added.

Farley was 33 when he died after an apparent overdose in his Chicago apartment on December 18, 1997.

Emmy winner Paul Walter Hauser, though neither thrice divorced or residing in a van down the river, is attached to star as legendary comedian Chris Farley in an upcoming film. In 2024, Hauser was linked to a biopic where he would play Farley. Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels was attached as a producer, and the project, which was said to have the Farley family’s approval, was being shopped around to studios.
