Recently, Corey Graves was moved from being a part of the Monday Night Raw commentary team to being a part of the NXT commentary team. Graves’ long-time friend and NXT commentator Vic Joseph shared his thoughts on Graves’ transition and how it might have been a difficult thing to accept at first.
While speaking on the Getting Over Podcast, Vic Joseph shared that Corey Graves needed a change in atmosphere. He also mentioned that since they’ve spoken more about it, Graves has gelled well with him and Booker T.
“I think he had to have a new set of eyes and take a deep breath. And something we’ve always talked about — we used to travel in the car together — was, ‘Hey man, it’d be cool to call the shows together one day.’ And I think once he and I had the talk, like, ‘Dude, this is what we’ve always talked about.’ He was kind of like, ‘Yeah, you’re right.'” [H/T POST Wrestling]
Vic Joseph says things are getting better every week
Joseph also mentioned that for Graves, the transition might have been hard. But now, the former 24/7 Champion is more comfortable, and he understands how to take NXT forward. He also shared that things are getting much better each week.
“I think the difficulty for Corey, and I think this is where you start to see that seamless transition, now he doesn’t have to do as much. Now he can take a deep breath. Now he can take a step back, and understand that it is three of us, three unique individuals, three distinct personalities for one goal for one show.
“It’s been getting better each and every week. And it’s only going to get better. All three of us are just stoked to be in New York on Tuesday at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. I mean, it’s a great card and it’s a great opportunity. And it’s a chance for not only the brand, but us as a broadcast team to take that next step together and start looking at our first WrestleMania weekend in Las Vegas,” Vic Joseph said.
