AEW Collision Results: Review, Grades, Card For March 8

Our AEW Collision results for tonight include Daniel Garcia defending the TNT Title against Lee Moriarty, Hologram will take on Dralistico, and Momo Watanabe going one-on-one with Serena Deeb.

AEW Collision Card

The announced card is as follows:

  • AEW TNT Championship: Daniel Garcia (c) vs. Lee Moriarty
  • Hologram vs. Dralistico
  • Momo Watanabe vs. Serena Deeb
  • Undisputed Kingdom vs. The Infantry
  • The Outrunners vs. Premier Athletes
  • The OPPS and Harley Cameron in action
  • We’ll hear from Kenny Omega, FTR, The Hurt Syndicate, and The Rated R Superstar Cope

AEW Collision Results:

This week’s episode of AEW Collision kicks off with trio action.

The OPPS (HOOK, Katsuyori Shibata, and HOOK) vs. Starboy Charlie, Jack Banning, and Titus Alexander

  • The finish of the match saw Katsuyori Shibata hit a PK to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: The OPPS

Grade: B

This was just a fun trios match to kick off the show. It was definitely just a showcase piece for The OPPS, but if they keep up this momentum this should be the team to take the Trios Titles away from the Death Riders.

Cope sends one last message to Jon Moxley before Revolution

The Rated R Superstar Cope is backstage. Cope says he makes Moxley nervous. Cope says without the AEW World Championship Mox is just a false marder. Copeland says he doesn’t want to face a coward at Revolution and wants to face the old Mox that wouldn’t be afraid to go toe to toe with him.

Cope says he has to make this match count because he knows he doesn’t have many title shots like this left. Copeland says he has to do this.

Mercedes Moné joins the commentary team for the next match.

Serena Deeb vs. Momo Watanabe

  • The finish of the match saw Momo Watanabe hit Serena Deeb with the Peach Sunrise to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Momo Watanabe

After the match, Mercedes and Momo go face-to-face in the ring. Mercedes shoved the TBS Championship in Momo’s face and ate a roundhouse kick and a meteora for her troubles. Momo posed with the TBS Title before leaving the ring.

Grade: A

This was a great match and a beautiful introduction for AEW fans who might not be familiar with Momo’s work. Mercedes on commentary helped tell the story of this match nicely. The rest of tonight’s card has their work cut out for them. I’m really looking forward to the TBS Championship match tomorrow at Revolution.

Will Ospreay reflects on the United Empire

We hear from Will Ospreay which was a taped promo following Dynamite on Wednesday night. Ospreay speaks about his past with Kyle Fletcher and what that means to him. It was an excellent promo that you should watch instead of reading a recap.

Harley Cameron vs. Tatevik Hunanyan

  • The finish of the match saw Harley Cameron hit Tatevik Hunanyan with her finishing move to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Harley Cameron

Grade: B+

This was a surprising match. It didn’t last long, but they did the smart thing and let Tatevik get in a lot of offense and required Harley to fight from underneath. The crowd really got behind her and it worked like a charm. Good stuff!

Kyle Fletcher responds…

We get a quick promo from Kyle Fletcher responding to Will Ospreay’s earlier comments. A perfectly fine promo just really hyping their steel cage at Revolution tomorrow night. Should be a great match.

The Undisputed Kingdom (Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong) vs. The Infantry (w/ Shane Taylor)

  • The finish of the match saw the Undisputed Kingdom hit the High Low on Carlie Bravo. Roderick Strong scored the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: The Undisputed Kingdom

Grade: B+

Damn good tag match, but the finish was never in doubt. The Undisputed Kingdom have really been firing on all cylinders lately but I still want to know why Matt Taven and Mike Bennett just up and disappeared from AEW programming.

We get quick promos from Don Callis putting over Konosuke Takeshita as well as the team of Bandido and Gravity. It seems a challenge was laid out for The Learning Tree at Revolution tomorrow but it wasn’t abundantly clear what the match would be. Stay tuned!

Jon Moxley comments on his match with Cope tomorrow night

Jon Moxley cuts a promo and I thought he was doing a good job until he has the nerve to say he doesn’t understand what Copeland is about. I checked out after that point because these last six months have been filled with me not understanding what the Death Riders are about. We need a title change tomorrow at Revolution. I don’t typically give my thoughts for segments and save them for the matches, but this Death Rider nonsense needs to end and it needs to end at Revolution.

Hologram vs. Dralistico

  • The finish of the match saw Hologram hit Dralistico with the Portal Bomb to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Hologram

After the match, The Beast Mortos attacks Hologram and tries to rip his mask off but Komander hits the ring and cleans house. Dralistico attacks Alex on the outside which allows Mortos to attack Komander from behind and LFI stands tall.

Grade: A-

Really great match. The aftermath feels like something that might get added to Zero Hour tomorrow. I guess we’ll know before the night is over.

FTR confronts the Undisputed Kingdom

Backstage there’s a meeting between FTR, The Undisputed Kingdom, and Daniel Garcia. Cash Wheeler tries to apologize for what went down last week but Dax Harwood refuses to apologize for anything. A rematch is set up for Collision next week. Cole tells Garcia if he’s still TNT Champion after tonight that he wants another shot at the title.

MVP explains the difference between The Hurt Syndicate and The Outrunners

The Hurt Syndicate are backstage with Lexy Nair. MVP says The Outrunners are fun and entertaining, but The Hurt Syndicate is also entertaining in a different way. MVP says they are going to put The Outrunners down at Revolution.

The Outrunners vs. Premier Athletes (w/ Smart Mark Sterling)

  • The Hurt Syndicate comes out late in the match to distract The Outrunners but it doesn’t work. The finish of the match saw The Outrunners hit Total Recall to score the pinfall victory.

Winners: The Outrunners

Grade: B

The match was fine. There really is nothing to say about it. I know several people are going to be upset that The Hurt Syndicate came out, but it didn’t lead to the finish. Personally, I don’t have a problem with it.

They air the clip of Mariah May attacking Toni Storm at the red carpet premiere of Queen of the Ring on Thursday night before running down the Revolution card. We then get a video package hyping the match between Hangman Page and MJF.

AEW TNT Championship: Daniel Garcia (c) vs. Lee Moriarty

  • The finish of the match saw Daniel Garcia hit Lee Moriarty with a piledriver to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: And still TNT Champion, Daniel Garcia

After the match, Shane Taylor Promotions surround the ring. But The Undisputed Kingdom hit the ring to make sure they can’t attack Garcia.

Grade: A-

An eight-man tag match between these men is announced for Zero Hour tomorrow. We get a final promo from Kenny Omega hyping his match tomorrow with Konosuke Takeshtia as AEW Collision goes off the air.

AEW Collision Review:

There were a few great matches tonight that really carried this show, but you could tell AEW is fully focused on Revolution tomorrow. Not that I blame them for that by any means, but you could tell they didn’t put 100% effort into tonight’s show. There were a lot of video packages and promos to hype up tomorrow’s show, but when you’re trying to sell a pay-per-view tomorrow that makes sense. Overall, a good show… but I expect tomorrow to be great.

Grade: B+
