The Undertaker says WWE’s success now speaks to the strength of the management that’s in place.
WWE has been on a remarkable run in recent years, as the company has broken records and secured a major deal with Netflix. The WWE product has drawn a lot of buzz, both on the main roster and on NXT.
Speaking to Alex McCarthy for Mail Sport, The Undertaker spoke about Triple H and Shawn Michaels having management roles in WWE and NXT, respectively. The Undertaker joked that, while he would have thought Triple H might one day be in a corporate role, he would never have seen Michaels doing it.
“Triple H, I would have thought about it, I could see that,” The Undertaker said. “But Shawn? Oh Lord, no.”
The Undertaker also highlighted the difference in management styles between Triple H and Vince McMahon, noting that things are much calmer now and less chaotic.
“It’s almost too calm for me,” The Undertaker said. “I say that because I’m not in it, right? I’m not in the day to day, but there was just always that moment of panic and the sense of urgency and things getting changed last-minute.”
The Under: It’s Been Strapped To A Rocket
The WWE Hall of Famer continued by stating that WWE’s success was undeniable, as the proof was in the records they were breaking. He stated that it was impressive to see how strong the product was coming out of the controversy surrounding Vince McMahon.
“You can’t deny business,” he said. “It has been just strapped to a rocket lately, breaking record after record, with premium live events and these incredible gates that they’re having at these stadium shows. The Royal Rumble was in a stadium just a few weeks ago and it and it was packed.
“It’s incredible to see how strong the product is coming out of such a huge controversy and drama and everything that comes with all that, scandalous stuff, but it’s just another example of the leadership that’s in place.”
