CM Punk Addresses Jeff Hardy’s Comments About Potentially Revisiting Their Feud

CM Punk has responded to TNA star Jeff Hardy’s comments about how he wants to have one more match with Punk and possibly retire him.

Speaking with Alex Marthy for Mail Sport, Punk was asked about Hardy’s comments, which he originally made back in December. With Hardy now technically able to wrestle in WWE matches thanks to TNA’s partnership with the company, fans have continued whether the two rivals could reignite their feud.

“He said he wants to retire me? I’d like to be able to fly, but I don’t think that’s going to happen any time soon,” joked Punk.”I think there’s got to be a lot of bridges crossed. I don’t know how many years I have left.

“I’m all for giving people second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth chances. There are a lot of experiences I didn’t enjoy so much, we don’t have to get into it, but I just root for people to be free of whatever demons possess them. If he’s coming back here, great, let’s see what happens.”

Hardy and Punk’s history dates back to 2009, as they had a heated rivalry over the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. This would up being Hardy’s final storyline in WWE before he left the company for several years. Hardy recently crossed over to NXT through WWE’s partnership with TNA. He and Matt Hardy will defend their titles at NXT Roadblock.

Jeff Hardy On CM Punk

Jeff Hardy recently elaborated on his comments about CM Punk. Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, he said that he was mainly joking about retiring Punk, but he would like to get into the ring with him at some point if possible.

“I just said a joke a few weeks ago at this show we did, and my humor is different, too,” he said. “I know a lot of people don’t get my humor, and I guess it can be dark at times. But I just said that by the time I’m 50 I might go back to WWE, retire CM Punk, and then maybe go in the Hall of Fame.”

“But there were things like that was seriously what I was manifesting, which is not the case at all. I just said that thinking I was being funny, and I think that was right after I painted my face so uncomfortably in front of all those people. But no, I didn’t mean that at all. I just thought it might be funny.”

“But yeah, the reality is it could happen because our feud, I still get so many compliments on that with people that are adults now. ‘Oh man, you and Punk, the feud was amazing.’ So even in AEW I felt like there was a moment for me and Punk, at least just some kind of face-off or uncomfortable like us running in each other in the backstage or something.”

“But we never got to do that. But ultimately, I would love to revisit that feud in some way, and who knows. CM Punk is such a superpower in the pro wrestling game, but if Jeff Hardy getting sober made him like an asshole. I mean, come on, heel Jeff Hardy against the one and only popular CM Punk. I feel like that’s completely possible.”
