The Rock calling Drew McIntyre the next big WWE star in a video has reemerged on social media.
The video was originally posted by Adam Glyn to the Adam’s Apple YouTube channel. In the clip, The Rock is interviewed while walking into a building. He stops to answer the question “Who will be the next big superstar” in the WWE.
The former WWE Champion thinks for a second before giving his view. The Rock said he wasn’t sure and named Roman Reigns at first.
However, he quickly changed his tune and gave the accolade to Drew McIntyre instead. He said that McIntyre had a good look, build and connection to the audience. he added that if he can continue to grow, Drew McIntyre could be the next big star in WWE.
“Uh, let’s see… you know, I’m not quite sure.” The Rock said. “I just know that a lot of guys, obviously, are working very hard. I spent a lot of time with Roman just now—spent the past week with him—and we were talking about everybody who has potential.” The Rock said.
“Personally, I like Drew McIntyre. I think he’s got a great look, a great build, and especially as he continues to hone in on his craft and connect to the audience—which is always the most important thing.”
The interview has gained traction recently, gaining tens of thousands of views on Twitter.
The clip emerged again after Drew McIntyre revealed he’s asked The Rock for a “little favor”. The details of the favor are unknown but could have something to do with The Rock asking Cody Rhodes for his soul on Smackdown last week.
