The Rock is celebrating Moana 2 breaking the $1 billion box office, proving to be one of his most successful movies ever.
The WWE legend starred once again as Maui in the sequel to Disney’s 2016 hit. The first movie earned over $600 million during its initial run. However, it has been dwarfed by the sequel which was released during the holidays in 2024.
In January, Moana 2 had earned over a billion dollars in theatres. It became just the 57th movie to make that much money. This was a huge accomplishment for The Rock, who took to social media to celebrate this great achievement.
On Twitter, The Rock spoke out about Moana 2’s impressive box office return. He was thrilled with the celebration of Polynesian culture resonating so much across the globe. Additionally, The Rock thanked everyone for making the film such a huge success.
“Can I get CHEE HOO!! THANK YOU with all our hearts as MOANA 2 achieves over $1Billion in box office earnings. A global embrace of our Polynesian culture and A LOT of happy and hyped movie goers around the world.” The Rock Tweeted.
“In the history of Hollywood, only 57 films have earned over $1B at the box office, so this is truly a real honor. Teamwork makes the dreamwork, and we’re pumped (and proud) to build out our MOANA Universe. Fa’afetai tele lava (thank you so much) ~ Maui”
The Rock: My Story With Cody Rhodes Doesn’t Need To Culminate In A Match
On the February 21st episode of WWE SmackDown, The Rock told Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes that he wanted his soul, and he said that he could make his dreams come true if Rhodes agreed to be his champion.
During the WWE SmackDown Post-Show, The Rock was asked about his offer to Rhodes, which came after he announced that WrestleMania 42 would be held in New Orleans.
“I grew up in the world of pro wrestling, my dad and my grandfather, and to be able to come back in this way as the Final Boss and to be able to get in the Final Boss’ skin and be able to do become that in this venue here in New Orleans, and really I think take the audience on a fun experience and ride where I’m singing, I’m dropping the announcement of WrestleMania, then bring Cody Rhodes out and offer him this big ideology of, ‘You are our champion and you’re amazing, but I want so much more for you’” he said.
“And at the end, the Final Boss says, ‘I want your soul.’ I think what that does, in this wild, crazy world of pro wrestling, is that to me, it just becomes something that’s unpredictable. In the world of pro wrestling, everything will culminate to a match. Whatever happens, it will end up in the ring.”
