Ricky Saints believes his confidence leaves him misunderstood in the eyes of many people within the wrestling industry.
WWE NXT Superstar Ricky Saints was a recent guest on Busted Open After Dark. When asked about being able to work with Shawn Michaels, Saints said it’s great to be understood by someone who was also misunderstood during a period of his career.
“It’s funny me and Shawn actually talked about the Mania match that Taker had,” Ricky Saints said. “Because I also asked Taker the same question. I was just like, ‘Hey, tell me, like, explain to me how that was. I’m just so curious about you and Shawn and how you guys meshed so well.’ To work with Shawn is great because to be understood by somebody who was misunderstood is a feeling that you can’t replicate.
“It is a great thing to have for me. And I think all along, and I’ve always said this, I just need the resources. And this is another thing, I don’t care how cocky I sound. I should be confident about myself, I should think highly of myself.
Ricky Saints believes NXT has the resources needed to take him to the next level
“I am modest to a point, but I believe so highly in myself up to a certain point because I know that I have — like a squirrel, I’ve gathered so many resources.
“But there are some resources that I do not have, and I understand that he has them, and I understand that this person has them, and I understand that this place has it, right? So to get that all at once, to get that finally right now, and talk to Shawn and have him give me straight on pointers right then in there, that feedback loop of tell me what’s wrong. Let me fix it is great. I can’t ask for a better situation.”
Ricky Saints is a very passionate person
When asked what he means by being misunderstood, Saints said he’s very passionate and some people aren’t used to that kind of raw emotion.
“I mean, to be honest with you, I feel like — I’m a very passionate person. Sometimes people aren’t really used to raw emotion,” Ricky Saints said. “They don’t know how to — they’ve never dealt with it before. They don’t know how to kind of take that in. And that’s a high energy that comes at you and you’re not ready for it.
“Being misunderstood is seeing me like that and being like he’s difficult. It’s just having a lot of things said about you that isn’t true until you actually sit down and you go, okay, I get where he’s coming from. All everyone needs is a pure explanation. That’s a bad behavior? Let me explain to you why this person is doing X, Y, and Z… boom! He doesn’t have a bad behavior anymore.
“He’s difficult. Let me explain to you why you may explain to you why you may think that he’s difficult, and where he’s coming from. Explanation will always solve it. So to be misunderstood in wrestling is a terrible thing, but as you’ve known and you’ve probably seen, I don’t buy into it. I will not sit up here and let somebody dictate how I should view my own self.
Ricky Saints delivers a message to those who believe he thinks too highly of himself
“Who are you? I should be proud of what I’ve done, I should be proud of the things that I’m going to accomplish. I should speak it out loud on the freaking mountain tops because I am the one putting in the work. And I didn’t kill my f*cking self just because I have to listen to some guy tell me, ‘Hey, you think too highly self. Simmer down.’ Screw you and everything about you, because where I’m going, I’m going to supersede anything that you’ve ever done, and that’s how I feel about it.”
