JDC chronicles his recent return to WWE.
Two weeks ago, TNA’s JDC (formerly WWE’s Fandango) surprised fans with a return to WWE NXT in which he confronted Heritage Cup Champion Lexis King. The next week, JDC unsuccessfully challenged King for the very title. Still, he maintains a positive outlook on the experience.
During a recent appearance at For The Love Of Wrestling, the former Fandango recalled how his brief NXT resurgence came to be, courtesy of the WWE-TNA partnership.
“A few weeks ago I was having dinner with my family and some friends over and WWE called,” JDC said. “They said ‘Hey can you be in Orlando for TV next week?’ I said ‘Sure, of course,’ and they brought me in to do a program with Lexis King. I’m a big fan of his character. It’s very intriguing what you’re talking about with the intangibles. He has a unique ability to communicate on the microphone, which it’s really hard. Either you have it or you don’t. His character is very intriguing and I thought our characters would mesh good together on the sticks.
“They brought me in for the first week, I was a little trepidacious and nervous about people kind of remembering me,” he continued. “The Fandango music, good reaction. It gave me goosebumps. It was an emotional day for me being out of WWE for 4 years, to go back. I was with the company for 15 years. Did the promo segment week one, came back, had a match last week for the Heritage Cup, really good match. Good to see everybody.”
Following a 15-year run in the company, JDC left WWE in the summer of 2021. The next year, he joined TNA under the name of Dirty Dango. In 2024, he rebranded into JDC (Johnny “Dango” Curtis) while aligning himself with The System, which also includes Moose, Eddie Edwards, and TNA X-Division Champion Moose.
