WWE NXT Results:

Bayley vs. Cora Jade

Jade ducks out of the ring. Bayley follows and beats Jade down outside the ring. Bayley lands her driving kick under the turnbuckle. Giulia is shown watching the match backstage. Jade takes control after a cheap shot. Jade works over Bayley. Bayley fires up and lands a dive. After a bit of back and forth, Bayley sets up her elbow drop. Roxanne Perez walks down the ramp dressed as old school hugger Bayley. Bayley attacks Perez at ringside. Jade rolls out and hits a double arm DDT on the floor. Jade brings Bayley back into the ring and hits another DDT for the win.

Winner- Cora Jade

At ringsdie, Perez looks shocked Jade won. NXT Gm Ava walks out on the stage and informs everyone that the women’s title match at Vengance Day will be a four way match: Giulia vs. Perez vs. Bayley vs. Jade

Grade: C+

Seeing Jade win this match was… odd. Narrative wise, it makes sense. The win got Jade a spot in the title match at Vengance Day. With that said, do we really need her in this match? If it’s not just to eat the pin, there is no point. Jade a few misteps tonight, but Bayley did her best to try to cover.

Backstage, Nikitta Lyons and Zaria get into it. Lyons wants Zaria in the ring tonight.

The Ruler has Arrived

Femi vows to walk out of Vengence Day as the NXT Champion. Femi notes that his triple threat match against Austin Theory and Grayson Waller is really a handicap match. Their egos will get in the way and they will fall. Waller and Theory interrupt. Theory puts Waller over as an NXT legend that is going to help him win the NXT Champion at Vengence Day. Waller says Theory is going to help him become NXT Champion. Waller says he’ll do whatever it takes to be champion. Theory and Waller argue. Theory and Waller agree to destroy Femi and then figure it out after that. Waller takes a swing at Theory, but Theory ducks and he nails Femi. Waller and Theory beat up Femi.

Grade: B-

Odd that this issue with Waller and Theory is playing out on NXT. With Waller and Theory turning the tables on Femi, it’s all but certain that Femi is going to find a way to leave both Theory and Waller laying.

Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura vs. Hank and Tank vs. No Quarter Catch Crew (Myles Borne & Tavion Heights)

Axiom and Nathan Frazer are in the bird’s next watching the match. The finish saw Briggs clearing the ring and Inamura landing a splash for the win.

Winners- Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura

After the match, Fraxiom offers Briggs and Inamura a title shot at Vengance Day.

Grade: B

Fun match. The crowd loves Hank and Tank. Yoshiki Inamura was impressive and has great energy. Briggs can’t seem to get out of tag teams, but this thing he has with Inamura is intriguing.

NXT Heritage Cup Championship Match: Lexis King (c) vs. Johnny Dango Curtis

This match will be conducted under the new Heritage Cup rules. One fall to a finish. JDC was in control until King crotched him on the top rope. King hits the Coranation off the ropes for the win.

Winner- Lexis King

Grade: C

Not a lot happening here. JDC tried to get the crowd into it with a big dive but there was only a tepid response. Taking away what makes the Cup unique makes it a waste of TV time.

Nikkita Lyons vs. Zaria w/Sol Ruca

Lyons and Zaria trade big moves. The finish say Zaria surprising Lyons with a Spear, followed by the F5 for the win.

Winner- Zaria

Grade: C+

Lyons looked better out there than normal. She may be finally rounding back into fighting shape after so many injuries. Both Ruca and Zaria are a bit lost in the shuffle, but tagging together is better than not being on TV at all.

Trick Williams accepts Eddy Thrope’s challenge for a strap match at Vengence Day.

The Revolution will be Televised

Ricky Starks appear in the crowd and says if NXT is the hottest brand, they need the hottest free agent now. He’s here to turn this place upside down. Everyone wanted to know whether future would be televised again, well he’s here, ain’t he? <insert Ricky Starks pose here>

Grade: B

Starks did a good job establishing a bit about who he is on the mic in this surprise debut. This writer can’t wait to see where this goes.

NXT North American Championship Steel Cage Match: Tony D’Angelo (c) vs. Ridge Holland

D’Angelo is in control early, sending Holland into the cage. Holland takes over after D’Angelo misses spear and eats the cage. After an extended heat, Holland gets a near fall after a snow plow. Stacks slides a crowbar into the ring. Holland and D’Angelo fight over it. Holland hit D’Angelo with it. D’Angelo somehow manages to kick out of a lariat to the back of the head with the crowbar. D’Angelo rips at Holland’s eye and hit a spinebuster for the win.

Winner- Tony D’Angelo

After the match, Holland get into a brawl with Stacks and the lawyer. Shawn Spears and his crew hope the barricade. D’Angelo is left in the ring with Izzie Dame and Rizzo. Dame hits D’Angelo with the crowbar. Spears and co beat down D’Angelo.

Grade: B-

This was sa fun and brutal contest. Holland’s near falls had this writer worried they were actually taking the title off of D’Angelo. Not that D’Angelo’s reign has been anything special, quite the contrary, it’s been what the kids call “mid.” Not sure Holland would be any better… and Shawn Spears may be even worse. None of this is particularly interesting, so let’s hope this Spears/D’Angelo thing ends quickly.
