Stephanie McMahon is always going to be part of the WWE family.
McMahon appeared on Thursday’s episode of the Pat McAfee Show and spoke about her past (and future) in the wrestling business. McAfee asked Stephanie if she ever reflects on what it’s like growing up around WWE the way she did. Stephanie said her absence from the company showed her that WWE will always be a part of her, and she feels blessed to be part of it.
“So, one of the things I learned when I stepped away was that I’ll never get away from WWE, ever. It is a part of who I am, it is what I love. I really did grow up in this business, so it was not unusual to have shoots done in my house. The first Saturday Night’s Main Event, I went trick-or-treating at Roddy Piper’s house, which was actually our house,” Stephanie explained. “He was putting bowling balls [in the bags] breaking our candy bags. He was a heel at the time and I was on that episode with Chip from Kate and Allie. It was just random.
“I did modeling for the [WWF merchandise] catalog and I didn’t get paid for that, we didn’t have child models at that time, it was just the employees’ kids that were just dressed up. I’ve lived this amazing life with so many opportunities to meet just incredible people and be part of something so special that connects people all over the world. I feel it everywhere I go in every arena I go to. It’s just something that is so special.”
McAfee addressed speculation that she wanted to get away from WWE when she stepped down. He asked if there was a moment when she looked back with pride during her hiatus.
“I never stopped being proud, ever,” Stephanie stated. “I do think I wanted to disappear for a little while, and I kinda did. And it was good for me, I needed it. And now I’m back.”
Stephanie McMahon will also make a return to television as the host of a new series called Stephanie’s Places on ESPN+.
