Welcome or welcome back to our weekly WWE NXT hits and misses series where we recap some of the biggest ups and downs from the show.
Miss – Women’s tag team opener on WWE NXT
Cora Jade was clearly the weakest link in this match. Bayley got her first win on NXT since 2020. That’s something. The Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez accidental collision led to Ava announcing a triple threat for the NXT Women’s Championship at Vengeance Day. Now that’s something this writer can look forward to.
Hit – Oba Femi stands tall
Oba Femi didn’t lay a hand on Grayson Waller and Austin Theory but he did put away Trick Williams with a powerbomb. It appears A Town Down Under’s time has finally come. The triple threat looks like an excuse to send Waller and Theory their separate ways. Would’ve probably been better had Oba just accepted Theory’s challenge to set up a singles match for the 2/15 PLE.
Miss – Ending to Trick Williams vs. Wes Lee
Trick let his emotions take over. Wes Lee won via disqualification. Lee should challenge Oba because he got the win over a former NXT Champion. That makes total sense but Shawn Michaels will somehow give us Trick versus Oba before Williams moves to the main roster.
Hit – Cedric Alexander vs. Ethan Page on WWE NXT
Another solid match from Page against a WWE veteran in Cedric Alexander. The limb work from Page was nasty. Cedric did a great job with the selling. Je’Von Evans arrived following the match to pick off where he left with Page. These two need to have a match at WWE NXT Vengeance Day because this is clearly a PLE-level feud.
Miss – Fallon Henley vs. Shotzi for the NXT Women’s North American Title
Filler matches like these are why the writer cannot appreciate Fallon Henley’s title run. It’s not her fault that Shawn Michaels isn’t giving her a proper feud. She’ll probably be fed to Stephanie Vaquer at Vengeance Day, but giving her some better defenses first would be nice.
Hit – Women’s tag team title main event
This was a great main event featuring some brilliant displays of action from all participants. Bianca Belair versus Lash Legend is a feud in the making. Miss Lash will do wonders once she sets her foot on the main roster. Jakara Jackson is a great tag team partner. Hopefully, Meta Girls will get a tag team title run before they move to the main roster.
