Effy won the gold at The People vs. GCW.
GCW‘s Hammerstein Ballroom event on January 19th was headlined by a GCW World Championship match. Mance Warner was set to defend the title against the winner of the match between Effy and Alie Katch. Katch suffered an apparent injury during the match, which was abruptly stopped. Effy went on to challenge Warner for the title in the main event.
They clashed in a chaotic bout, and they used plenty of weapons throughout the match. Warner was seemingly on the verge of victory when he grabbed a guitar, but Cole Radrick stopped him from using it. Effy then hit Warner with the guitar and scored the pin with the Sack Ryder. With the victory, he won the title for the first time.
Warner held the GCW World Championship for 223 days. He previously won the title at GCW Cage of Survival 3 on June 2, 2024. There, he defeated Joey Janela.
