A new report provides an update on Tomohiro Ishii after he seemingly suffered an injury at AEW Collision: Maximum Carnage.
Ishii challenged Kazuchika Okada for the AEW Continental Championship at the show on Saturday night, which was taped on January 16th. During the match, Ishii apparently suffered an injury to his left ankle or calf after Okada hit him with a flapjack. Okada went on to score the win in the bout.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports that the injury to Tomohiro Ishii was not part of a storyline. However, he is said to be “fine.” Meltzer noted that Ishii likely would not have acted like any injury was serious anyway. (H/t Josh Nason of F4WOnline.com)
Ishii is one of NJPW’s most decorated veterans. He is a six-time NEVER Openweight Champion and former IWGP Tag Team Champions, among other accolades.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
