Athena is grateful for STARDOM.
11 days ago, Athena finally made her STARDOM debut when she and Thekla defeated Mina Shirakawa and Tay Melo and New Year Dream. Following that, the ROH Women’s Champion competed in three more matches under the STARDOM banner, including a title defense against Thekla. This marked the last match of Athena’s tour. As Athena attests, though, it will not be the last time fans see her in a STARDOM ring.
“I am sad because it’s my last match of my tour. Got to do the bear dance, I got to have friends in the STARS. I am very sad to go, because I love Japan, and I love STARDOM,” Athena said in a post-match promo. “It’s very difficult for me to leave because I have had so much fun here. It has reawakened my passion not only as a fighting champion, but as a wrestler who’s been doing this for almost 20 years.
“Normally in America, no one sees me cry. Never. I’m tough, but this is very special,” Athena continued. “This is my dream, and I finally got to come here. Hopefully I can come back and compete in front of the most amazing fans with the most amazing women from around the world. So STARDOM, you will see me again, the Fallen Goddess, the American Joshi, the Minion Overlord, the inspiration to every women’s division. But most importantly, today, I finally lived up to my nickname of the “American Joshi”! Thank you, STARDOM. Thank you everyone. I will see you again soon.”
In her final STARDOM date, Athena successfully defended her ROH Women’s Championship against Thekla. Prior to that, she also notably aligned with the STARS stable for a trios and eight-woman tag match against members of the HATE faction. On both occasions, Athena’s team emerged victorious.
