Oba Femi has won the gold.
At WWE NXT New Year’s Evil, Trick Williams defended the NXT Championship against Oba Femi and Eddy Thorpe. Before the match, Thorpe was attacked backstage. He did not enter alongside Williams and Femi, so he was seemingly removed from the bout, which was then contested as a singles match. However, he eventually came to the ring, as he stopped the referee from counting a pin for Williams.
Femi took control and slammed Thorpe. In the closing moments, Williams went for a Trick Shot to Femi, but the powerhouse moved, and Thorpe hit him with a chair. Femi then slammed Williams to win the match and the NXT Championship.
Femi and Giulia, who won the NXT Women’s Championship earlier in the show, celebrated on the stage after the match.
